Are you taking part in Cancer Research UK's It's a Girl Thing?
TO mark breast cancer awareness month, one of the UK's leading research charities has launched a new campaign.
Cancer Research UK started It's a Girl Thing to increase awareness and encourage people to raise money to fund vital research into breast cancer.
Every year in Worthing, 78 women are told they have breast cancer. Nationally, the risk of women getting the disease is one in 44,000.
Cancer Research UK is the largest funder of breast cancer research in the UK.
Money raised through the campaign will be used to investigate new ways to prevent and diagnose the disease, and develop improved treatments.
Fund-raising
One in nine women will develop breast cancer at some point in their lives.
Help raise vital funds by organising your own fund-raising event or shopping.
The first step is to request a fund-raising pack, which has everything you need to make your pink event a success.
Visit the website at www.cancerresearchuk.org for more information.
You can follow any theme and be as creative as you like.
Shop pink
Every pound you raise will make a real difference to the lives of people with breast cancer.
Alternatively, shop pink! Pink products are available to buy online and from Cancer Research UK charity shops.
Value fashion retailer Peacocks is supporting It's a Girl Thing with a great selection of exclusive pink products.
The company will make a donation to Cancer Research UK from the sale of each product, so you can help raise vital funds while you shop.
Check out the funky piggy bank, jogging tops and bottoms and the famous wellies to name but a few.
Get involved
Tesco is also thinking pink to raise funds for It's a Girl Thing by introducing an exclusive range of pink clothing.
The special pink collection will include pyjamas, lingerie and slippers, with 10 per cent of the price being donated to Cancer Research UK.
Get involved and help us beat breast cancer for all the important women in your life.
