Arrest made in Seaford murder case

A 29-YEAR-OLD man of no fixed address has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of Ahmed Remon Hayder.

The arrest was made following inquiries by Sussex Police and the Metropolitan Police late last night (Friday February 5).

The man, who has not been named, was arrested in Tower Hamlets, East London, around 10.20pm.

Remon's body was discovered just before 1pm on Monday February 1 in the landing area of the living accommodation above the architect's shop in Sutton Park Road, Seaford, where he lived with his family. The flat is linked to the Moon of India restaurant.

Sussex Police have thanked the local community and in particular the Bangladeshi community for their support and assistance with the fast moving and sensitive investigation.

The man will be transported to Sussex today (Saturday) for interview.

Detective Chief Inspector Adam Hibbert, of Sussex Police's Major Crime Branch, who is leading the investigation, said: "We have received a good response following our appeals, but this is an ongoing murder investigation. If anyone has information, however insignificant it might seem, please let us know."

Anyone with information should contact Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999, quoting Operation Scotsford.
