Artist's work entered into major show
AN artist specialising in smoke-fired sculptures has four pieces in Britain's largest affordable art fair.
African Queen (pictured) by Anna Keiller, who works from a studio in Dudley Road, is one of them.
Anna is showing her work at the Battersea Park Affordable Art Fair, which runs until this Sunday and focuses on contemporary art in the 50 to 3,000 price range.
Anna, whose work costs from 300-450, said: "I'm totally behind this. Art shouldn't be something men in suits use as an investment. I find that difficult."
Made from clay, African Queen was rubbed with ground bronze mixed with varnish after its first firing. Graphite powder and more varnish add a layer of smokey black to the bronze.
Anna runs regular workshops for those wanting to learn her techniques. For information, visit www.annakeiller.com
