Bats delay homes bid

PLANS for 28 more homes in Malling Street, Lewes, have been submitted to Lewes District Council for the second time.

In December last year developer Blue Sonic applied to the district council for planning permission to build on land to the south and west of the former Clayhill Nurseries site in Malling Street and Daveys Lane.

That application was withdrawn because the developer had not looked into the potential impact on bats in the area.

A spokesman for Lewes District Council confirmed a bat survey had been carried out by the developer and the plan was again being considered by planners.
