Blaze at a Lewes scrapyard
FIREFIGHTERS spent Tuesday night tackling a major blaze at a Lewes scrapyard.
Crews were called to Light Brothers in Greystone Quarry, off the A26, just after 10.30pm following reports a building was on fire.
The blaze had also spread to a nearby scrapheap and it is understood an extensive amount of machinery has also been badly damaged.
Firefighters from Lewes, Uckfield, Barcombe, Newhaven, Preston Circus and Hove were among those attending the blaze, which was brought under control shortly before 2am.
Crews stayed at the scene until around 4.30am on Wednesday morning to make sure the area was safe.
An investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire.
