Book launch for author

THE FIRST novel written by author Michael Gould was launched in the Hillcrest Centre in Newhaven.

Filfy O'Durr or A year in the Life of an English Dog is a social satire and is based on a beautiful rescue mongrel.

In the fictitious London suburb of Pinchley Park, Filfy lives happily with his anti-social owners George and Dolly O'Durr, as well as neighbours Charles Noble and his wife.

Charles Noble likes to polish the inside of the exhaust pipe on his Rover 200 Pass of a Sunday morning and hates the family next door.

Filfy loves all humans, but Mr Noble hates all dogs.

The story captures some of the absurdities of the human condition as seen through the eyes of a simple dog.

The launch took place on Friday November 27.

Former wine merchant Michael, 71, Fort Road, said: "I'm immensely excited. The launch was fantastic."

Filfy started as a character Michael created when he told his grandchildren stories but has now been immortalised in the book which is aimed at teenagers and upwards.

Although it is his first novel, Michael has previously written for magazines, as well as sketches and jokes for television and radio.

He will be at Paradise Park in Newhaven to sign copies on Saturday December 12 and Sunday December 13.

The book is available from Waterstones, Amazon and Borders at 6.99.
