Bowling fun supports business relationships
Hailsham Town Team launch event.
TOWN councillors in Hailsham took on local business representatives in a game of 10-pin bowling geared to bolster professional relationships in the parish.
The social networking event organised by the East Sussex branch of the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) was held at the Freedom Leisure Centre in Hailsham on September 18.
Andrew Whelpton of Stephen Rimmer Solicitors scored the highest individual score with 299 across both games.
The bowling event was followed by a buffet meal at Chapter 12 Wine Bar in Hailsham High Street, where town councillors discussed their objectives to revitalise the local business community informally with FSB and Hailsham Chamber of Commerce representatives.
Town Cllr Nick Collinson said the town council, by joining in the event, had demonstrated its comm itment to work more closely with local businesses and business networking organisations.
He also said the town authority would continue to engage with local businesses in the future.
Cllr Collinson said: “Events such as this are a valuable part of the business networking community’s programme of events.
“The town council takes pleasure in supporting any promotional initiatives that the East Sussex Federation of Small Businesses members, and indeed members of other business networking organisations, wish to engage in and to help local business activities in any way possible.
“This type of event is imperative for businesses in Hailsham and I remain hugely impressed by the federation’s ability to deliver business referrals for small and medium-sized enterprises within the local community.”
The bowling fun event follows a unique gathering of business folk, councillors and other professionals at the first launch meeting of ‘Hailsham Forward’ two weeks ago, as reported in the Express. Hailsham Forward is a new initiative looking to regenerate the business culture in the town centre via progressive dialogue between interested parties and the support of Wealden MP Charles Hendry and the Government.
