Boy arrested for pulling heads off flowers

A BOY pulled heads off flowers at Hailsham War Memorial.

A boy was seen climbing onto the memorial and damaging flowers.

PCSO Alison Bond and a colleague asked him to stop.

She said: 'He was told to stop doing it but he continued to do it.'

A boy was arrested and charged with criminal damage.

PCSO Bond added 'One of my objectives as a PCSO is to stop anti-social behaviour and prevent it before it happens.'

A police spokeswoman added: 'There are times when childish exuberance can lead to anti-social behaviour which in turn can lapse into criminal offences being committed.'

She added: 'On most occasions by speaking with the children and advising them, the majority of the children do take notice.

'However, in some cases, such as this one, a small minority of children seem to think they are under no obligation to behave and in these cases more positive action will be taken.'
