Breaking news: Man dies in Golden Cross caravan fire

A MAN has died after his caravan was totally destroyed by a fire in the early hours this morning, April 20.

The tragedy happened at Deanland Wood Park caravan site near Golden Cross at 3.25am.

A single storey 8m by 15m caravan was totally destroyed.

The body of the male occupant was found inside the caravan, said police.

Fire engines from Hailsham, Eastbourne, Heathfield and specialist units from Uckfield and Herstmonceux went to the scene.

They used foam, hose reels, jets and breathing apparatus to tackle the fire.

A fire investigation officer is still at the scene with police.
