Thousands of visitors have been enjoying Artwave venues throughout the Lewes District since August 24 – and the final weekend of the celebration of artistic talent looks set to be no exception.
With more than 100 venues exhibiting, people have been spoilt for choice. Many have enjoyed going further afield this year to enjoy what’s on offer at the more rural venues.
Geoff Stonebanks, at Driftwood in Bishopstone, has reported visitor numbers already exceeding last year’s.
Geoff said: “This is our fifth year of opening for Artwave at our unique garden venue and it seems so far to be our best. We are already eight per cent up on visitors after five days. Breathtaking!”
Driftwood, a national award-winning garden in 2012, is displaying works by 14 diverse artists in its stunning setting.
So make the most of this weekend – Artwave 2013, the 20th visual arts festival, comes to an end on Sunday, September 8. Details can be found at www.artwavefestival.org
Artwave, a not-for-profit event co-ordinated by Lewes District Council, originated two decades ago as an art trail in Lewes and now covers the whole of the District.
