Burglary at South Chailey newsagents
Ram-raiders struck at a garage in Brixworth.
Sussex Police are investigating a burglary at the McColls newsagents in South Chailey where a considerable quantity of cigarettes were stolen.
Two men forced entry into the shop in South Street and stole a quantity of cigarettes at about 11.30pm on Tuesday February 26.
About 30 minutes before the burglary, there had been a failed attempt to force entry into a newsagents in Leicester Road, Lewes.
DS Daniel Dugan said: “This is the latest in a series of burglaries where cigarettes seem to be the target. We are working with neighbouring forces in trying to trace the offenders.”
Anyone who saw anything suspicious or has information about who may be involved, is asked to contact police on 101 quoting serial 1659 26/02/13 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
