Bus service number 14 running between Peacehaven and Newhaven

The number 14 has started running between the Meridian Centre In Peacehaven and Newhaven Sainsbury’s.

Brighton and Hove Buses said although it could not get buses over Telscombe Tye, this would enable people in Peacehaven to catch a train to Brighton from Newhaven Town station.

Buses are running every half hour over this section, leaving Peacehaven at 09 and 39 minutes past each hour and leaving Newhaven Sainsbury’s at 10 and 40 minutes past each hour.

A statement on the bus company’s website said: “We have been out checking roads all morning and now that conditions are starting to improve we are hopeful that more bus routes will start operating soon.

“As well as the road itself being clear we need to make sure that buses have somewhere to turn round if they cannot reach their normal terminus, and this is often difficult if side roads are badly affected by snow, ice and abandoned vehicles.

“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused. If you hold a valid Saver bus ticket you will be able to use it on the train in the local area, as well as to and from Lewes, Seaford and Eastbourne.

“However, do please check www.southernrailway.com before travelling to find out exactly how the trains are running.”
