Caught driving without a licence -twice

A painter and decorator was caught driving without a licence for the second time on the same day, a court heard.

Lloyd Adam Jones, 28, of Carisbrooke Road, St Leonards, this week pleaded guilty to driving without a licence, MOT or insurance on December 3, after being convicted in December of similar offences on the same day.

Hastings magistrates court heard that Jones' Mazda MX6 was pulled over by police on duty in Warrior Square, after a check showed the vehicle was not insured.

He had aldready been disqualified from driving for six months and fined 300 for an offence the same day when he was caught driving a van.

Defending himself, Jones told the court that both vehicles have now been crushed.

He said: "I knew I was going to be disqualified.

"So I moved my car from one space to another in order to sell it, and the police pulled me. I'm sorry, basically."

Magistrates added six points to his licence, and fined him 250 for having no insurance, with no further penalty for driving without a licence or MOT. He was also ordered to pay 60 costs and a 15 surcharge.
