Classic motorbike show at Newhaven Fort

THE SUSSEX Motorbike Club is staging a charity show at Newhaven Fort this weekend.

Visitors will be able to relive the 1960's mods and rockers with classic music and a bike display.

Money will go towards helping eight year old Ashanti Elliot from Handcross who was one of only two people in the UK with Hutchinson Gilford Progeria Syndrome.

The syndrome is an incurable disease that makes very young children appear very old and unfortunately their life expectancy is only till 12 or 13 years.

Club spokesperson Clive Etherington said: "There is a stereotypical image of bikers wearing leather and roaring around the countryside causing havoc and chaos on their motorcycles.

"The Sussex British Motorcycle Owners Club are as far away from this image as possible.

"That's why the club members are determined to fundraise for Ashanti to ensure she gets all the treatment and help she needs as well as a few treats to make her short life full of joy."

The Classic Motorcycle Show fund raising event takes place on Sunday April 11 at Newhaven Fort in Fort Road from 10am to 4.30pm.

There will be a disco, tombola and raffle.

Entry to the show is included in the cost of a ticket to the fort.

The group is hoping to raise more than 1,000.

For more information about the club www.sbmcoc.co.uk or calling Clive Etherington on 01903 247245.
