Council says 145 schools out of 190 affected by strike in East Sussex

A TOTAL of 119 schools out of 190 in East Sussex were closed as a result of the strike action today (Wednesday November 30).

A further 26 schools were partially closed as teachers joined with other public sector workers to protest over changes to pensions.

The main demonstration gets underway in Brighton at 11.45am in Victoria Gardens, Grand Parade.

More than 10,000 people are expected to take part and delays around Brighton City Centre during the day are expected.

East Sussex County Council said all council services were operating, apart from schools, which had been the most affected by the strike.

Libraries, children’s centres, registry offices and household waste recycling centres remain open, while disruption to adult social care has been kept to a minimum.
