A small village school in the heart of the East Sussex countryside has won a place in the top 12 per cent of primary schools in the country.

Governors, staff and pupils at Dallington Church of England Primary School are celebrating another year of excellent Standard Assessment Test results.

Year 6 pupils who took the SATs tests in July attained 100 per cent in English at level 4-plus and 93 per cent in Mathematics at level 4-plus. All of the results were well above the national average and put Dallington in the top 12 per cent of schools in Britain.

Headteacher Shirley Frankis said: “We are all very delighted at these results which are down to the hard work of the pupils, teachers and parents.

“As well as doing so well academically, our Year 6 group of pupils was a credit to the school in many other ways. They took part in many sporting and creative activities with other local schools including the Heathfield Schools’ Olympic Event in June. Every one of the pupils made a significant contribution to daily life at the school and they are sorely missed. All involved with the school wish them well for the next phase of their education.”

Dallington is a small Church of England Primary School situated in the High Weald of East Sussex. Staff, children and community work together within a Christian ethos to promote a positive and considerate atmosphere where pupils are happy and can develop spiritually, academically and socially.
