Do you recognise these past St Bede’s pupils?
TO CELEBRATE the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in June St Bede’s Preparatory School in Eastbourne is exhibiting a selection of photos from the 1950s.
Two special albums were recently discovered in the school by Mr John Cousin; previously the Head of Science, and Carol Parris, the current Head of Art.
The images they discovered provide a unique step back in time and Mr Cousin who is now responsible for the archives has provided a wealth of anecdotes about the school’s history.
The images evoke the atmosphere of the 1950s but equally convey the timeless spirit of childhood and school days.
The exhibition includes some photographs kindly on loan from the Royal collection at Windsor.
Dr Sophie Gordon, who curates the collection, will be visiting the school as a guest speaker. However, St Bede’s is keen to discover more about the mystery photographer and the boys captured on film.
They would like to trace any of the people in the photos and would be delighted to hear from anyone who recognises the children captured on film and to invite them to attend the opening as special ‘guests of honour’.
If you are or know who any of the people in the photographs then please contact us on 01323 734222 or prep.school@stbedesschool.org
The exhibition is open to the public at the school on May 26 and 27 between 2pm and 4.30pm and everyone is most welcome to attend.
