A large dung heap fire threatened hedgerows and woodland at Isfield on Tuesday (September 3).
Fire crews from Uckfield and Heathfield were called to a farm fire at 9.23am and found the dung heap well alight.
Due to difficult access to the site, a Landrover was dispatched to the scene.
As the nearest hydrant was a considerable distance away, crews used a water carrier and set up a 12,000 litre dam in the stable yard for the Landrover to refill.
The fire was extinguished by 4.00pm.
