Easter fun at Newhaven Fort

Residents looking to some enjoyment during Easter need look no further as Newhaven Fort has bags of activities on offer.

From Saturday March 30 to Monday April 1, local historical events company Hands on History, will be helping visitors fire paintballs from replica World War II guns and make their own gas masks and leather dog tags.

If its animals you’re after then visit on Monday April 1, when Jaws ‘n’ Claws returns at 1.30pm and 2.45pm with a selection of creatures to cuddle.

Or get creative on Thursday 4 April in the children’s Easter craft workshops, taking place at 11.30am, 12.45pm, 2.15pm and 3.30pm.

Places on all of these workshops must be booked in advance.

From April 6 to April 14 the Fort will host the ‘Stitch for Victory’ touring exhibition from Eastbourne’s Redoubt Fortress and there will be knitting workshops to compliment the display on April 6 and 7.

All this and the family quiz trail, which will be running daily throughout the school holidays. All of the Fort’s fascinating displays,

Searchlight Café and Guard Room gift shop will also be open as usual.

And once the holidays are over on Sunday April 21 the Sussex British Motorcycle Owners Club will host its annual fundraising rally.

There will be a spectacular collection of classic motorbikes, music and entertainment throughout the day.

Lead councillor for tourism at Lewes District Council Rob Blackman said: “Newhaven Fort has once again put together a great programme of events for Easter and beyond and it is a fantastic attraction for children and adults alike.”
