Fit a smoke alarm and win prizes

editorial image

Eastbourne fire fighters are running a competition designed to encourage residents in Seaford, Polegate, Hailsham, Westham and Pevensey, as well as Eastbourne, to fit smoke alarms in their homes.

To take part residents must fit their own smoke alarm or ask Community Safety Advisors to fit one for them.

It will continue until March 23 and residents could win £150 of groceries (1st prize) or £100 of groceries (2nd prize).

Or winners can use the cash at B&Q, with Eastbourne Community Fire Station covering the cost of this prize.

First prize winners will be invited to visit the Fire Station as VIP guests, with up to four children and parents.

Smoke alarms cost around £5-£10 and can be bought at most supermarkets, DIY stores and electrical equipment shops.

Always put smoke alarms where you will be able to hear them throughout the home, particularly when you are asleep or when doors are closed.

To enter: the family will be informed of the competition during a Home Safety Visit, where their details will be recorded.

Each household will be allocated one lucky number.

If a family fit their own smoke alarms, send the details into Eastbourne Community Fire Station, along with their name, address and phone number.

A lucky number will be allocated.

A form to enter the competition will be at participating stores Morrisons, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Waitrose and B&Q.

This information will be on http://www.esfrs.org/. Drop the information into the fire station or email Robert.Newton@esfrs.org, or drop off the details at the supermarkets involved at Customer Services.
