Free kids’ activities during half term in Newhaven

How to keep the kids amused during the half term without breaking the bank is a problem which faces many parents.

Thankfully Newhaven Community Development Association (NCDA) has the answer as it has organised a week full of free activities including Egyptian artefact making, mural painting, a craft and food event and a family bingo walk.

Jenny Leon from NCDA said: “You can put your worries behind you as NCDA have planned a week of free activities for you and your family. “From art projects to bingo walks we’ve got it all.

“Make sure you book your places as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.”

Egyptian artefact making from Monday to Friday, 1pm-3pm, will be at Denton Island Community Centre.

It will feature a free family learning art project for children between the ages of five and 11 with an accompanying adult.

Refreshments will be available. There will be limited spaces so book early. The deadline for booking is February 13. Call Ronnie on 012373 517250.

An intergenerational mural project is aimed at children from 8 years plus. It will run from Monday to Friday, 4pm to 6pm, at Denton Island Community Centre.

They day will include decorating the entrance to the community centre with the support of a local artist.

On Tuesday there will be a community garden craft and food event from 10am to 12.30pm at the Growing Together Community Garden in Newhaven.

All are welcome to come along for craft activities, recipe swaps and international food tasting.

Bring along a sample of your favourite food and recipes to share, as well as a terracotta pot to decorate or £3 to buy one on the day.

Finally the free family bingo walk will take place on Wednesday from 10.30am to 11.30am.

Meet at the Denton Island Community Centre. The walk will be buggy accessible. Women and children only.
