GALLERY: Active communities festival

VISITORS got the chance to explore new hobbies at an active communities festival held last Saturday (June 27).

Hailsham Community College hosted the event which was funded by Sport England and supported by Wealden District Council.

Lots of different community groups, organisations and clubs came along so people could try out new hobbies for the first time.

At the event, people enjoyed a mobile climbing wall and saw a police dog handling show.

They also visited a mobile skate park, had their faces painted and took part in a football tournament as well as other activities.

The Mayor of Hailsham, Cllr Ian Haffenden, enjoyed seeing the variety on offer by groups in the town.

He said: 'I was quite surprised -I went around all the stalls and then into the gym inside and there were kids doing activities.

'Hopefully a lot of societies and clubs will gain through more membership.'
