GALLERY: Thousands turn up for Crawley Folk Festival
THOUSANDS of people from as far afield as Austria and France got into the festival spirit at the weekend- but the venue wasn't Glastonbury.
It was the grounds of the Hawth Theatre which was the big draw when it hosted the annual Crawley Folk Festival, drawing more than 3,000 people.
Some of the acts had even hot-footed it from Glastonbury to make it, including Eliza Carthy and Murder of Rooks.
The sun-drenched event proved a huge hit, with visitors enjoying dance displays and music styles from folk and acoustic to blues and Americana.
Crowds soaked up the atmosphere, enjoyed food from around the world and cooled down with a pint or two from the beer tent- which had an array of over 30 ales, ciders and perries.
Festival spokesman Dave Watmore said: "It was a great success all round - it was fantastic to see so many people enjoying themselves."
