A GAP YEAR in the UK was the launch pad for a career in the hospitality industry for Nick Bosse and he has now returned on a permanent basis as deputy general manager at Ashdown Park Hotel and Country Club.
After a career that has seen him working at luxury boutique hotels in his native South Africa, and Guernsey’s first ever five-star hotel he has moved to East Sussex to take up his latest position at the country house hotel at Wych Cross.
He said: “I took a two-year gap period to travel after school working in various parts of England, Scotland and Ireland doing short-term contracts in hospitality. I had been bitten by the hospitality bug and enrolled in a hotel management programme back home.”
He spent ten years working Durban’s Oyster Box Hotel as food and beverage manager and nearly two years at Cape Town’s luxurious Twelve Apostles property while the Oyster Box underwent a complete renovation. He then returned to the hotel to once again head up the food and beverage department before moving to the Old Government House Hotel and Spa, Guernsey in 2010 as deputy general manager. After a spell at the Cape Milner Hotel in Cape Town, Nick joined a country house hotel in Hertfordshire as conference and banqueting manager and was then promoted.
Nick is married with two children. He’s a keen sports fan and enjoys following football, rugby and cricket.
