Get on your bike for Macmillan Cancer at Plumpton Racecourse

PLUMPTON Racecourse will provide the picturesque backdrop to a day of fitness and fun on bikes.

The women-only Cycletta cycling series was launched last year by Participate Sport Ltd.

It inspired nearly 2,000 women of all abilities to get on their bikes and ride 40km alongside Olympic and World Track Champion Victoria Pendleton.

As the Olympic year begins, Participate is set to build on this success by expanding the series.

2012 will see seven Cycletta events being held across England from May through to October.

Plumpton Racecourse, and the surrounding area, will play host on September 30 and it is hoped more women will take part in support of Cycletta’s charity partner, Macmillan Cancer Support.

Each Cycletta ride will feature all the unique touches which made the 2011 events so popular. Riders will face a 40km safely managed route on quiet country roads with treat stops based along the route and the ‘pamper zone’ will be based at the finish in the Cycletta Village.

Victoria Pendleton said: “Being able to cycle with so many girls in Cycletta last year was one of my highlights of 2011.

“2012 should be a special year a nd I really hope that thousands more women will join me on a bike this year. Cycletta is the perfect event to get on two wheels with the girls and have some fun. I hope to see you out there.”

Entries for all Cycletta events are now open. To register, please visit www.cycletta.co.uk
