Heathfield Dad pays tribute at funeral to children found dead in car boot
THE FUNERAL of two toddlers whose Mum is accused of their murder was held in London yesterday (Thursday March 17).
Harry Donnison, aged three and Elise, aged two, were found dead in two holdalls in the boot of a car in Heathfield.
Their father Paul read out this poem as part of his eulogy to his children at the Mortlake Crematorium in Richmond:
They are gone
You can shed tears because they are gone
Or you can smile because they have lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that they'll come back
Or you can open your eyes and see they all left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see them
Or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember them and only that they're gone
Or you cancherish their memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
Or you can do what they'd want; smile, open our eyes, love and go on.
He finished with the line: "Goodnight Harry and Elise until I see you again, Dad."
The toddlers bodies were discovered near the family home in Mill Road on January 27 after their Mum Fiona Donnison visited a local police station.
Donnison, of Marshwood Road, Lightwater, Surrey, was remanded to at a medium-secure psychiatric unit.
She will appear at a plea and case management hearing at Lewes Crown Court on April 23.
A post mortem revealed the children died from asphyxia.
