Help for Heroes night in Cooksbridge raises thousands

EILEEN Russell, the Chair of Lewes District Council and cllr Sharon Davy attended a fundraising evening in Cooksbridge to raise money for the charity Help for Heroes.

The event took the form of an auction, held at The Rainbow Inn, and £6,300 was raised for the charity, exceeding expectations.

The event was hosted by celebrity chef Marco Pierre White and attended by approximately 100 guests.

James Burns, of Help for Heroes, said: “We’re thrilled with the amount The Rainbow Inn and Marco raised tonight – it’s fantastic to see at first hand how an event like this can really pull in the community spirit and make such a fantastic contribution to our charity.

“Help for Heroes is a national charity which provides practical, direct support for our current wounded, injured and sick service men and women. Help for Heroes is very active in Sussex with a network of volunteers who generously give up their valuable time to offer support to fund-raisers throughout the county. We thank everyone involved tonight and everyone who paid for tickets and placed bids for the auction prizes.”

Cllr Russell said: “I am pleased the organisers were happy with the money raised, the evening went really well and I was delighted to be able to give my support.”
