Hundreds sign coach petition in Wealden District

MORE THAN 600 people signed a petition to persuade a coach company to reinstate an important route into London.

Bus operators National Express used to run an early morning coach service from Eastbourne via Hailsham, Uckfield and Forest Row to London Victoria. The route closed and was replaced by a much later service which gave passengers very little time to remain in the capital.

Wealden District and town Cllr Barry Marlowe, from Hailsham, worked with local businesses and residents to co-ordinate a campaign to alert the company to the value of the service and ask if they would be prepared to start it running again.
