Husband of make-up artist denies murder
The husband of a BBC make-up artist found dead in woodland has denied her murder.
Bafta-nominated Diane Wickens, 48, who worked on sets for The League of Gentlemen and Pride and Prejudice, disappeared on January 24.
Four months later, on May 15, her body was discovered six miles from her detached four-bedroomed cottage which lies within Ashdown Forest.
Edwin Chenery-Wickens, 51, also known as David, appeared at Lewes Crown Court on Friday accused of murder.
The cafe-worker, of Duddleswell, near Uckfield, wearing a green round-neck jumper over a white shirt, spoke only to confirm his name and enter a not guilty plea during the ten-minute hearing.
Michael Harrison, defending, told the court: 'He denies he murdered his wife and has no knowledge as to how she met her death.'
Chenery-Wickens was remanded in custody by Judge Richard Brown to stand trial in January next year. The next hearing is due to take place in October.
Mrs Wickens trained at the BBC make-up school and won an Emmy award for her work on the film Arabian Nights.
