International concert pianist visits Uckfield Community Technology College
UCKFIELD Community Technology College hosts a visit by an internationally renowned concert pianist to mark the restoration of the College’s grand piano.
The seven foot Bechstein concert piano is now re-installed at the College and will be played by Richard Meyrick from 7pm on Tuesday, February 7. In the afternoon he will run a piano workshop for students that attend other local schools as well as the College. The aim is to develop their piano technique, understanding of piano repertoire and enthusing them with his own style.
The recital programme includes music by Beethoven, Kapustin, Mompou, Granados, Gottschalk and Lecuona including the Pathetique sonata, Russian jazz and piano music from Puerto Rico, Spain and Cuba. It follows a senior recital evening on January 31 when senior students gave voice and piano recitals and small ensemble performances. The Bechstein’s restoration and rebuild was funded by the College’s Parent Teachers Association.
Tickets cost £5 for adults and £3 for students and concessions.
They are available on the door.
