‘It looks more like a boating lake than a recreation ground’ Newhaven resident captures aftermath of storm surge

Waiting for Video...

These pictures taken by Newhaven resident Jenny Flood show the water levels after a storm surge hit the town last night (Thursday December 5).

Parts of Newhaven including the bowls club, Newhaven Harbour train station, the Fort Road Recreation Ground and Newhaven Recreation Ground and play ground have been flooded.

Jenny, who was not affected by the flooding as her home is on higher ground, said: “The Fort Road Rec. looks more like a boating lake than a recreation ground.

“One of the more unusual sights are the piles of worms that have been left on the ground as the water has receded. You can also still see them through the water.”
