Join Hailsham Youth Council invitation
Youth Mayor Chelsie McIntosh
GET involved – That is the message being given by a town authority to young people as part of a drive to recruit new members for Hailsham Youth Council.
Young people aged 11 to 16 years (16 to 21 years for those with special needs) who live or go to school in Hailsham are being asked to consider joining the youth council.
Launched by Hailsham Town Council in September 2009, the youth council works in partnership with local authorities, to represent young people in Hailsham and surrounding villages, giving them a voice and an opportunity to influence key decisions.
Youth Mayor Chelsie McIntosh said: “We are currently recruiting additional members to serve on the youth council.
“Members are able to connect and collaborate with other young people to help address the issues that affect the youth of Hailsham. Being a member also offers a great opportunity to make new friends, learn more about how local government works and have their voice heard in the community.”
Hailsham Youth Council meets fortnightly on Friday afternoons at the town council offices in Market Street.
Anyone interested in being a member contact Andy Joyes on 01323 841702.
