Large amount of cash stolen during robbery at Peacehaven in Sainsbury’s
AN EMPLOYEE was assaulted during a robbery at Sainsbury’s in Peacehaven where a large amount of cash was stolen.
Sussex Police were called to the supermarket on South Coast Road at 10.25pm on Wednesday (September 5) to reports of a robbery.
Two men approached the tills in the supermarket, while it was still open, while a third remained at the main door as a look out.
One of the suspects assaulted one member of staff before they broke into the till taking a large amount of cash.
Police are appealing to anyone who might have seen the men leaving in the direction of Saltdean.
One of the men was described as white, 6ft, in his 20s, slim with short ginger hair wearing a blue and black jacket and a scarf covering half his face.
The second man was also white, slim and in his 20s and wearing a grey hooded top.
The third man was described as wearing a black coat and black trousers with a lines down the side.
Inspector Stephen Tullett said: “This type of incident is very rare in Peacehaven and neighbourhood policing teams will be out in the area making extra patrols and speaking to local residents.
“We are appealing to anyone who saw anything suspicious around that time last night to please get in touch with police on 101 quoting serial 1819 of 15/09.”
