Lead thefts lead to arrests

POLICE have made arrests after a spate of lead thefts.

Sussex Polcie say that on Sunday (march 7) officers' attention was drawn to a van being driven badly in Westmeston, near Ditchling.

The vehicle was stopped and found to contain a quantity of lead.

Two young men from Burgess Hill were subsequently arrested for the alleged theft of the lead, which had been stolen from Plumpton Agricultural College.

The arrests came after a series of metal and lead thefts from buildings in and around Lewes.

Other arrests have been made in connections with other thefts in Lewes.
