Lewes Cycle Challenge returns for New Year

A cycling challenge where departments, organisations and individuals competed against one another for prizes will return this year and run from May 27 to 16 June.

The Lewes Cycle Challenge, which has taken place in previous years, has been rebranded as Love to Ride Lewes.

Before the challenge starts, cyclists can get involved in the New Year’s Challenge where you virtually ride the length of the UK - from Lands End to John O’Groats.

It works by inviting your friends to join your ‘virtual ride team’ and you log your real rides on the Love to Ride website.

You can see your progress and interesting updates along the way, plus get some friendly banter going with your team and stand a chance of winning some great prizes.

It’s free to take part and some of the goodies include an iPad 3, cycling gear and a meal out with your virtual bike ride team.

A spokesperson for Love to Ride Lewes said: “You can ride anywhere, any time.

“Your miles add up to cover the 874 mile journey. Sound like a long way?

“You can share the distance with your friends so your miles add up so that together you can go the distance.

“Start the New Year feeling great, get out in the fresh air on your bike and experience the world from two wheels.”
