Lewes disability group launches appeal for camera equipment
The Oyster Project, Lewes’s disability support group, has launched an appeal for any unwanted photographic, video or audio-visual equipment for its camera club.
The charity has been running a monthly photography group for more than a year but has no photographic or video equipment of its own and relies on members bringing their own cameras and video recorders with them.
“Some of our members have their own cameras which are fine and perfectly suitable, but others either can’t afford to buy a camera or have ended up with something that they just can’t operate,” said Oyster’s Nick Robinson.
“People in the group that have previously struggled with other forms of creativity have produced some really fantastic photographs – as good as those from any other camera club – so it’s a great leveller for us. But we obviously need the right sort of equipment to begin with.
“Normally, charity shops can’t accept any sort of electronic equipment so unwanted cameras and other equipment gets left in drawers or even thrown away. We are asking people to consider donating any unwanted items to us. Nothing is too small and we’ll happily arrange to pick equipment up.”
