LEWES RAID: Arrests made
ARRESTS have been made after a brazen daylight raid on a jewellers.
Four robbers with sledgehammers struck at around 3.40pm today (Thursday) at W E Clark and Son, Cliffe High Street, Lewes.
A police spokesman said: 'Several people have been arrested after police stopped a car on the A22 near the Boship roundabout at Hailsham following a robbery at a jeweller's shop in Cliffe High Street, Lewes.
'The alarm was raised when a number of people were seen smashing the window of the shop and entering before making off in a car. There are no reports of injuries.
'Police are searching the area and, as a result, there is local traffic congestion.'
