Seaford Bonfire Society members were delighted to present their two nominated local charities with cheques for £500 each.

They handed over the cash at the White Lion Hotel in Seaford on Thursday March 7 during their meeting.

Money went to Seaford Downs Syndrome and Special Needs Support Group and Seaford Lifeguards.

Tina Start, of Seaford Bonfire Society, said: “This is all thanks to the generosity of the Seaford Community and visitors to the bonfire celebrations in October last year.

“Seaford Lifeguards help the society at their event with collection buckets and torch distribution and have been of invaluable support since the society reformed in 2010.

“The Seaford Downs Syndrome and Special Needs Support Group have been one of the society’s chosen charities for the last two years due to the valuable work they do for families within the Seaford Community.”

This year’s celebrations will be held on Saturday October 19 and programmes will be available nearer the time.

Plans for bonfire night in the town are already underway and the society hopes to bring Seaford the best display so far.

Anyone wishing to join the group can do so at their open meetings on the first Thursday of each month at the society’s headquarters at the White Lion Hotel from 7pm onwards or by contacting the secretary on seafordbonfire@gmail.com

Seaford Bonfire Society thanked the community for all their support and look forward to seeing them at any one of the events they will be attending during the year.
