Look out gift shoeboxes for elderly & children in need

SUSSEX Express readers have been asked to look around their homes and donate good condition items to be used as presents for elderly people and children in need here at home and abroad.

Computers for Charities (CFC), based in Hailsham, has issued an appeal for shoeboxes or bags of goods with a target of 1,000 boxes/bags to give away in time for this Christmas, 2012.

Contents could be soft toys, pencils, paper, toys for children and hats, gloves, scarves, socks. Toiletries such as toothpaste and new toothbrushes, soap, flannel, shampoo, razors, and makeup are needed. And a luxury item for the elderly.

Donated boxes should not be closed except with elastic bands. Shoeboxes, bags and donations need to be with CFC by the beginning of November to ensure distribution in time for Christmas 2012.

PA Kathy Jenkins said: “Perhaps you could also help this year by: raising funds to cover the transportation costs, knit for us, send us old mobile phones or even act as a collection point for boxes.

“We do have sponsors who help towards this appeal, but we can always use more funds, boxes and other goods. Please spread the word to your friends, family, work colleagues and neighbours and help to put a smile on the faces of those we aid.”

All details are also available on our website: www.computersforcharities.org. Phone: 01323 840641 if you can help in any way.

Computers for Charities and Recycling for Charities respond to requests from all over the world, raising funds by selling refurbished donated computer equipment in the UK, recycling waste equipment and via grants.
