CROWBOROUGH-based friendship group, HUG (Help Umbrella Group) has presented a much-needed donation of 1,800 to Caroline Mack, chief executive of Wealden Citizens Advice at the town's CAB offices.
The money was raised at a St Patrick's supper and ceilidh earlier in the year and will go towards the purchase of laptop computers and accessories for Crowborough CAB.
Caroline said: "We are delighted that HUG have chosen Crowborough CAB as their charity for this year as new laptops will make a big difference to the way we operate our service. Our advisers use laptops at our outreach advice sessions but our current ones are very old and extremely slow to operate. The new laptops will enable advisers to download case records and view the latest advice and information at speed resulting in a faster, more efficient service. Furthermore, they will help us to train more volunteers as advisers as they will be able to access e-learning at the bureau and participate in computer-based training sessions."
