Man seriously injured after car hits tree

A DRIVER was seriously injured on Saturday night when his car collided with a tree at Maplehurst, near Horsham.

The collision happened around 11pm in Copsale Road when the white Ford Fiesta, travelling west, lost control on a right hand bend and left the road, colliding with a tree and bouncing back on to the carriageway.

The driver, a 19-year-old man, from the Horsham area, received serious head and arm injuries and was flown to the East Surrey Hospital in Redhill by the Sussex Police helicopter. His condition is described as serious, but not life-threatening.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have seen the Fiesta in the area in the time leading up to it, to contact 0845 60 70 999 quoting Operation Hawksworth.
