Man stabs himself outside Chichester District Council offices

A man has been arrested and taken to hospital after slashing his throat and wrist at Chichester District Council's offices.

Police were called to the offices at East Pallant today (Monday November 30) when the 60-year-old local man who has mental health issues stabbed himself outside at around 11am

He was taken to St Richard's Hospital where he is undergoing surgery for the serious but not life threatening injuries.

While this was taking place, a false fire alarm was activated at the council offices, which was not related to the incident, and staff, customers and councillors were evacuated.
