YOUNG footballers paid a silent tribute to a 19-year-old whose death has sparked murder inquiries.

Connor Saunders played football for Peacehaven FC before his death.

Burgess Hill Town FC and Lewes FC youth teams joined the crowd in a minute’s silence before their title-deciding match at Leylands Park, Burgess Hill last night (Monday April 16.)

Connor died after sustaining injuries in an attack after what police believe was an argument between two groups.

Connor of Downsway, Woodingdean, Brighton, was assaulted in West Street, Rottingdean, on Saturday.

Teenagers have been interviewed in connection with Connor’s death.
