A Barber specialising in cut-throat shaves is encouraging people NOT to shed their facial hair this November.

Matt Lawrence has taken on the hirsute mission to encourage men to grow a moustache for the charity Movember.

The charity raises money for men’s health, specifically prostate and testicular cancer.

His has even enlisted the help of Hellingly Rugby Football Club in his mission to see more ‘tache’s next month.

To take part in Movember each “Mo Bro” must begin on November 1 with a clean shaven face and grow and groom a moustache for the entire month.

Mr Lawrence, who owns Bad Barnet in Hailsham and Polegate, believes moustaches are this seasons clean shaven.

He said: “Not just any moustache will do. You have to grow a true gentleman’s moustache, so no joining at the sideburns as that’s a beard, and no joining the handlebars to the chin as that’s a goatee.”

He added: “Every time you shave, a moustache dies, so by keeping your moustache alive this November you can help promote a very worthy cause.”

Bad Barnet’s moustache push has already inspired the Saxons, who pledged their support by donning fake ‘taches before their game against Ditchling, which they went on to win 93-0.

Luke Davies, from Hellingly RFC, said: “The moustached look might not go down well on the rugby pitch, but all the lads are fully behind the campaign and we’ll be trying our best to grow and groom a moustache.”

Bad Barnet will be offering useful tips and advice on how to become a Mo Bro on Facebook /badbarnet and Twitter @badbarnet and will have donation boxes in both its barber shops throughout November.

Movember raised £79.3 million globally during the 2011 campaign.

The funds were raised by 854,288 Mo Bros and Mo Sistas around the planet.
