More cars targeted in thefts on residential streets

MORE CARS have been targeted in thefts along residential streets in Hailsham.

Some five vehicles were broken into in Coopers Way,Blacksmiths Copse and Carpenters Way sometime between 12pm on Sunday, September 2 and 5am on Monday, September 3.

The thefts follow a similar patten of thefts when four cars were broken into on Butts Field, on August 26.

Jamie Harwood, neighbourhood engagement officer for Wealden Police, said: “There has been an increase in thefts from vehicles in the Hailsham area over the last 3 weeks.

“In this time we have seen a number of cars broken into, with many of these being insecure.

“We would urge vehicle owners to lock their cars and remove all valuable items.”

Any witness or anyone with information is asked to phone 101 quoting serial 0601/0679/0733/1458 of September 2.
