Mum and daughter death: missing laptop needed
A MISSING laptop could give clues about why a mother fell off cliffs and died - while her daughter was found dead at home.
Cathy Madden, aged 40, died at the bottom of the Second Sister Cliff near Birling Gap after 2.30pm on July 3.
Keira Madden, her four-year-old daughter, was found dead at home in Felpham, Bognor, the same day.
Police need help to trace a missing laptop belonging to the dead mother.
A police spokesman said: "Following extensive searches of Cathy Madden's property, officers have been unable to trace the laptop and believe it may have been left or lost somewhere between Bognor Regis and Eastbourne.
"She was known to own an eMachines E525 laptop, serial number LMN3304067912323091601, and police would like to find the laptop for examination."
Police have confirmed that Keira Madden did not have any drugs in her body - prescription or otherwise - when she died. The results of toxicology tests have yet to be published.
A public appeal for sightings of the mother and daughter on the day of their deaths has led to some leads for police. But they need more people to come forward with information.
Cathy Madden wore a blue hooded top and black tracksuit trousers when she died. Chaplains had tried to talk her away from cliffs before she fell.
The mother had driven a green Renault Megane with a registration number T599 SAP - later found by police near the cliffs.
A note found by Keira Madden's body, allegedly written by her mother, said the little girl drowned in the sea.
