FILM fans will be able to go to the movies in Newhaven now that a new community cinema has been launched.

The Hillcrest Film Society plans to begin its season with My Week with Marilyn on Saturday October 20, with tickets priced at a very reasonable £4.50.

Movies will be screened in the Art Room at the Hillcrest Centre, which has been fitted out with a professional projector, lights and blinds.

There is no membership fee.

The evening performance at 7.30pm sold out on the first day bookings opened, but there will be an additional matinee screening at 4.30pm.

Tickets are available at the Hillcrest Centre reception, Hillcrest Road, on 01273 512376.

Refreshments will be available from the Hillcrest Café. which opens at 4pm for the matinee and 6.45pm for the evening showing.

Films will be shown on the third Saturday of each month.

Black comedy The Guard will be shown on November 17 and the original Some Like it Hot starring Marilyn Monroe will be on December 15.
