National bike week celebrated in Seahaven this weekend

CYCLE Seahaven is promoting national bike week by staging a series of events beginning this weekend.

The group will be encouraging people to get on their bikes from June 19 to June 27.

The four main events are: Saturday June 19, adult beginners/easy ride from Martello Tower, Seaford to The Hope Inn at Newhaven starting at 10am.

Sunday June 20, family/children's short ride from Martello Tower, Seaford to the Buckle and back, starting at 10am.

Saturday June 26, adult beginners/easy ride Friston Forest, two rides at 9am and 2 pm.

Bike Week's finale will be Seahaven Cycling Festival on Sunday June 27 from 10am to 5pm at the Denton and Mount Pleasant Social Centre.

Mr Cycles in Seaford is sponsoring the event, which will include demo bikes, free tune-ups, on and off road organised rides, best dressed bike, skills competitions and treasure hunt on a bike.

The free event will finish with a barbecue costing 5 at the Flying Fish at 5pm.

Sainsbury's is sponsoring some of the prizes for the festival.

Certificates of achievement and a free drink will be given to all children who complete the children's short ride.
