New farmers’ market in Seaford goes down a storm

Crowds flocked to snap up goods at the first Seaford Farmers’ Market held in the town for years on Thursday October 4.

The event was the brainchild of businesswoman Cathy Murphy.

She was inspired to introduce local produce to the town at a weekly event and was overwhelmed by the response when the community turned out in force at the Clinton Centre.

Cathy said: “We’ve been bombed out and it’s better than I could have ever imagined.

“People were banging on the door to come in before we had opened.

“Some people came into have a nose and find out what it’s all about. I think everyone has done very well, the response from Seaford people has been fantastic.

“It’s been a huge hit.”

Visitors to the Clinton Centre in Clinton Place could snap up cheeses, chutney, cakes, crafts, fudge, eggs, vinegars, organic vegetables and much more.

There was also music and an indoor market cafe.

Seaford MP Norman Baker was at the event as was Seaford mayor Councillor Linda Wallraven who said she felt the day had gone well.

The market will be held on Thursdays between 10am and 2pm.
