Newhaven Lifeboat searches for missing woman at Seaford Beach

editorial image

A woman thought to be suffering from suicidal tendencies was reported missing in the Seaford Beach area On Saturday January 26.

Her car was found at the Buckle Car Park and Newhaven Lifeboat was tasked to search the sea for her.

The all weather Seven Class lifeboat RNLB David and Elizabeth Acland searched from the site of the old Beachcomber pub to Seaford Head. It was then extended to Cuckmere Haven.

The lifeboat worked closely with the local Coastguard teams and Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 104.

Newhaven Lifeboat used its searchlights and parachute flares to illuminate the night sky in the choppy conditions.

At 8.05pm the Coastguard advised that the missing person had been found safe and well.

The lifeboat returned to station at 8.35pm.

The five call outs so far in January make it the busiest January for the Lifeboat for more than 10 years.
